The Carnegie Library has received a grant from the
Institute of Museum and Library services to provide lap top computers
for computer training to the public.The lap top
computers will be shared between the Monte Vista Carnegie Library,
the Carnegie Library, South Fork Branch, the Del Norte Library and the Saguache Library. The lap
top computers and other supplies have been purchased and have arrived for the classes, and this grant has allowed us to hire a
trainer to teach the public basic and advanced computer skills. We wish to express our thanks to the Institute of Museum and Library Services for making these classes available.
The Dates for the San Luis Valley Introductory Computer Classes for this coming month are:
In Monte Vista: Thursday, Sept. 2nd - "Facebook and Social Networking" at 10:30a.m to 12:30p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9th - "Advanced Internet Searching" at 10:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. In South Fork: Wednesday, Sept. 1st - "Microsoft Word" at 11a.m. to 1p.m.
These will be the last classes for a few months as we are again applying for grants to carry on the classes. We will know by November of this year if we will be continuing the computer classes.

The next Carnegie Library Board Meeting will be on October 13th at 6p.m. at the South Fork Library.
The Summer Reading Program takes place every summer at both libraries from June to July.
The Children’s Story Hour is every Thursday @ 10:00 a.m. held at the Carnegie Library in Monte Vista. Other News:
The Carnegie Libraries are also checking into grants for renewable energy.
A memorial will be hung in the Carnegie Library of Monte Vista in loving memory of Lonnie Malouff by her friends and family for her services to the library. The memorial will be added to the website in the near future.
